Rea Kearns awarded rowing scholarship at Indiana University
The Takapuna Grammar Rowing Club is thrilled to announce that Rea Kearns, one of our top Year 13 rowers, has signed with Indiana University to join their NCAA Division 1 women's rowing team. This incredible achievement is a testament to Rea's talent, hard work and dedication to the sport over the past few years.
Rea has been an integral member of our rowing club for the past 3 seasons. During her successful high school career, she has helped lead her crews to impressive results at both a regional and national level. Her commitment, drive and dedication have made her a role model for younger rowers in our program.
When asked about the opportunity to row at the collegiate level in the United States, Rea remarked: "Rowing at the collegiate level in the US is such an amazing opportunity and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested. When visiting, seeing the level of investment and support dedicated towards a women's sport is really inspiring."
We are so proud to see Rea take the next step in her rowing journey. She will undoubtedly continue to excel at Indiana University, while representing our club and New Zealand on the international stage. We wish Rea the very best of luck and will be cheering her on from afar!
